Széchenyi István University is one of three Hungarian universities to feature in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject table for Economics degrees.

To learn more about studying economics at this ranked institution, we spoke to current student Noémi Szabó about their experiences so far.

What influenced your decision to study Business and Economics at Széchenyi István University?

My decision to study Business and Economics at Széchenyi István University was strongly influenced by my long-standing passion for economics, as well as my interest in analytical and strategic thinking.

I was particularly attracted by the university’s strong academic reputation and the high quality of English-language instruction, as well as the expertise and supportive attitude of its professors.

What have been the highlights of your studies so far?

Among the highlights of my studies so far, I would emphasise receiving a special recognition award at the TDK conference (Scientific and Artistic Student Conference), as well as achieving success in both national and international case study competitions through my student association.

Additionally, I have been fortunate to receive several scholarships, which have further motivated me to excel academically.

What has been your experience of student life?

My experience of student life has been extremely positive. Living in the dormitory on campus provides a well-equipped and comfortable environment, while also making it easy to engage in university life.

The student community is active and supportive, making it an enriching experience both academically and socially.

What are your career plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to continue my career in finance, and I am planning to do a master's degree at Széchenyi István University.

Currently, I am working part-time as a financial controller, which allows me to gain valuable practical experience alongside my studies.

What advice would you have for students considering applying to Széchenyi István University?

For prospective students, my advice would be to apply with confidence. The university offers excellent academic and professional opportunities, and Győr is a beautiful and rapidly developing city with a great location, making it easy to travel to several countries in the region.

I gained several friends who studied here during their year abroad, and all of them miss Győr and our university.
